TAROT FIASCO
ROLES
Level Designer and Narrative Designer
DESCRIPTION
During the game, you must find 3 of your master's tarot cards that have escaped after you, the apprentice, accidentally scattered the deck of cards.
This game was a project based on a brief given to us by Tiny Rebel Games, "When is a card game NOT a card game?" and can only be up to 8 to 10 mins long.
This project was worked on by a team of 10, 5 game designers and 5 game artist. This developed my team work and communication skills.
What I Did
On this project I made 2 levels, the library and potion room. I also did the lighting and post process for both those levels. I drew the basic layout sketch was given to the artist for there concept art.
The narrative was written by me, this includes the intro and outro scripts as well as the individual stories for each tarot card.

Library Room
The Library Room is the second room the player enter. I wanted the library to be different but still have the same theme to match the others. So I thought I would make this room darker than the other to create a mysterious and ominous atmosphere the player will feel while exploring the level. Because this game is short I also made this level a certain way to make it feel unique and have a different layout

Potion Room
The potion room is the final level in the game. This level is the smallest in the game but still has that uniqueness that makes it stand out. I wanted to add as much assets into the levels as possible without hindering gameplay. I did this to make the player understand the personality of the two characters in the game, as delivering the narrative was an important part of the experience.
Level Design Research
Here are mood boards I created to get inspiration for each level I planned to create and to get a better understanding of what experience each level will create. I looked at films scenes, games and general art and what emotions they created for their audiences. These images also helped me with understanding what type of lighting I was going do.

Narrative
Here are the Tarot card stories I wrote for each card, these were inspired by 'Cyberpunk 2077' tarot cards. The cards are connected by the fool's journey, the fool representing us the player and each cards ends with a question to make it feel more interactive like the player is answering.
